New electronic medical record: In September 2007, the pulmonary clinic started using an electronic medical record to better care for patients and improve patient safety. The implementation was successful, and we ask that families allow a little extra time for their child's appointment as staff are trained on this new system.
Brief description of pulmonary medicine The Children's Medical Center division of pulmonary medicine is staffed by pediatric specialists experienced in handling the inpatient and outpatient care of individuals with a variety of respiratory problems. The pulmonary medicine division serves infants and children as well as adolescents with both acute and chronic pulmonary diseases. After hours, pediatric pulmonologists are available by phone to address urgent patient care needs. The department is home to the Regional Cystic Fibrosis Center, which has been accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The staff at Children's developed the successful Asthma Care Program, which ensures children with asthma receive consistent, high-quality care as well as patient/family education.
