Dayton Children's is the pediatric referral center for a 20-county region. We offer pediatric services in general pediatrics and over 35 specialty areas. This area contains information about each of these pediatric services.
Pediatric critical care medicine focuses on providing care to patients under age 20 who are critically ill or are at risk of becoming critically ill. Children's pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is staffed by a group of board-certified pediatric intensivists serving the medical center's 20-county area. The specialists have a particular interest in research on the improvement of outcome after shock and neuroresuscitation. They are available 24 hours a day by phone to assist in the emergency stabilization of children from southwestern Ohio, northern Kentucky and Indiana.
